Peran Pasar Tradisional dalam Menjaga Ketahanan Pangan Masyarakat di Tengah Inflasi

Abstract

Inflation has led to rising food prices, reducing purchasing power and threatening food security, particularly among low- and middle-income households. This study aims to analyze the role of the Poken Jongjong Traditional Market in maintaining community food security amid inflation. A qualitative research approach was employed using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The collected data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Poken Jongjong Traditional Market plays a significant role in sustaining food security by providing relatively affordable food prices, implementing flexible bargaining mechanisms, and maintaining a shorter distribution chain. Furthermore, the strong social ties between traders and consumers foster mutual trust and social solidarity, enabling communities to better cope with economic pressures during inflation. Therefore, local governments are encouraged to strengthen and revitalize traditional markets as a strategic policy to enhance food security and improve community economic resilience during periods of inflation.
