The background of this study is the low learning outcomes of students, as indicated by average scores that have not reached the Minimum Passing Criteria (KKM). This research used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, which was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 23 students with instruments in the form of learning outcome tests and student activity observation sheets. The results showed an increase in both the mastery of learning outcomes and student activity. In cycle I, the percentage of student learning mastery was only 57%, then increased in cycle II to 82.61%. Student learning activities also increased from 65.70% in cycle I to 85.53% in cycle II. Mathematical connection ability is an essential competency in mathematics learning that includes students’ ability to connect mathematical concepts, relate mathematics to real-life situations, and apply various mathematical representations. This research is a quasi-experimental study using a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two classes: the experimental class, which received treatment using the inquiry method, and the control class, which was taught using conventional methods, with 20 students in each class. The instrument used in this study was a mathematical connection ability test in the form of essay questions that had been validated.The results showed that the average post-test score in the experimental class was 77.05, while in the control class it was 53.90. The independent sample t-test resulted in a significance value of 0.000 &lt; 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. The cognitive conflict strategy is believed to stimulate students’ active engagement through the stages of presenting conflict, creating conflict through demonstrations, and resolving it through discussion and reflection. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The instruments used were a mathematical representation test and a student response questionnaire. The results showed a significant difference in mathematical representation ability between students who were taught using the cognitive conflict strategy and those who learned through conventional models. Thus, the cognitive conflict strategy is effective in improving students’ mathematical representation ability.</em></p> Ade Rizky Nasution Nova Christina Dewi Nurdalilah Copyright (c) 2025 JURNAL CERMATIKA 2025-10-08 2025-10-08 5 2 66 73 10.64168/cermatika.v5i2.1665 Efektivitas Pembelajaran Matematika Melalui Penerapan Model Learning Cycle Pada Siswa Kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Sosopan https://jurnalugn.id/index.php/cermatika/article/view/1666 <p><em>This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Learning Cycle model in mathematics learning for grade XI IPA 2 students at SMA Negeri 1 Sosopan during the first semester of the 2024–2025 academic year, involving 28 students (11 males and 17 females). The research employed a pre-experimental design with The One Group Pretest-Posttest Design and used the Multistage Sampling technique. The instruments included a learning achievement test, student activity observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The results showed that the average pretest score of 23.75 (very low category) increased to 77.21 (high category) after implementing the Learning Cycle model, with a normalized gain of 0.70. A total of 89.29% of students achieved individual mastery, while student learning activities were categorized as good, and student responses toward learning were positive. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Learning Cycle model is effective in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes in grade XI IPA 2 at SMA Negeri 1 Sosopan.</em></p> Abdul Rahim Syah Adek Nilasari Harahap Susi Sulastri Lubis Copyright (c) 2025 JURNAL CERMATIKA 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 5 2 74 83 10.64168/cermatika.v5i2.1666 Penerapan Collaborative Learning Berbasis Ethnomatika Pola Bagas Godang Tapsel Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Kreativitas Siswa Kelas VII-I https://jurnalugn.id/index.php/cermatika/article/view/1669 <p><em>The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles during the second semester with the topic Quadrilaterals, applying the Collaborative Learning model based on Ethnomathematics of the Bagas Godang Pattern of South Tapanuli. This study aimed to determine: (1) the improvement of students’ creativity, (2) the enhancement of students’ learning activity, and (3) the improvement of teachers’ ability in applying the model. The research subjects were Grade VII-1 students of SMP Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan in the 2024/2025 academic year. The results showed an increase in students’ creativity from 70% (“Fair” category) in cycle I to 86.67% (“Good” category) in cycle II. Students’ learning activity also improved from 67.42% (“Fair”) to 83.91% (“Good”). Teachers’ performance in implementing the model increased from 3.50 to 3.68 (“Good” category). These findings prove the effectiveness of the model in improving the quality of mathematics learning.</em></p> Fitria Jelita Nurdalilah Adek Nila Sari Harahap Susi Silastri Lubis Copyright (c) 2025 JURNAL CERMATIKA 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 5 2 84 92 10.64168/cermatika.v5i2.1669 Penerapan Gaya Belajar KOLB Untuk Meningkatkan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Siswa Di Kelas X SMK Negeri 1 Siabu https://jurnalugn.id/index.php/cermatika/article/view/1668 <p><em>This study aims to improve student’s mathematical problem solving skills through the implemantion of Kolb’s learning style in class X TBSM @ at SMK Negeri 1 Siabu, focusing on the topic of sequences and series. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 20 students from class X. Data were collected through problem-solving tests, student and teacher activity observations, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The results showed an improvement in students’ problem-solving abilities from 55% (categorized as low) in the first cycle to 85% (categorized as good) in the second cycle. Observations also indicated increased student and teacher engagement and improvement in instructional quality. The implementation of Kolb’s learning style proved effective in helping students grasp mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies.
