Abstract

This study aims to analyze the sustainability of extension programs in chili farmer groups in Mandrehe District, West Nias Regency, and its impact on increasing crop yields. The approach used is a mixed method with data collection through questionnaires, interviews, and observations of 30 respondents who are members of the farmer group. The analysis was carried out descriptively and statistically using the Pearson correlation test and simple linear regression. The results show that although the majority of farmers actively participate in extension and apply the materials obtained, the correlation between extension sustainability and increased crop yields is only r = 0.223 and is not statistically significant (p = 0.236). This shows that the effect of extension on increasing crop yields is still weak, and external factors such as access to capital, climate, and institutional support also play an important role. The implication of this study is the need for a redesign of a more integrated and participatory extension strategy to achieve sustainability and optimal increase in crop yields.
